From Alice Springs to Darwin

Le 1er octobre, nous sommes partis direction Darwin!!! :D 14h-18h30 pour aller jusqu'au camping/station essence/"capitale des OVNIS" de Wycliffe Well ^^

Puis le lendemain, 10-17h de route jusqu'à Daly Waters, où nous nous sommes arrêtés dans LA curiosité locale: un pub où s'arrêtent tous les voyageurs et qui laissent un souvenir d'eux: une plaque d'immatriculation, une casquette, un billet ou même un soutien-gorge. La chaleur est désormais constamment présente: 28 à 35°C et il fait de plus en plus moite.

On the first of October, we left for Darwin !!! : D 2pm-6:30pm to go to the campsite / petrol station / "capital of UFOs" Wycliffe Well ^^

Then the next day, 10am-5pm drive to Daly Waters, where we stopped at THE local curiosity: a pub where all travelers stop and they leave a memory of them: a license plate, a cap, a ticket or even a bra. The heat is now constantly present: 28 to 35 °C and it is more and more moist.

Avec cette chaleur, le besoin de notre séjour dans le Northern Territory était constamment le même: l'EAU, trouver de l'eau, boire de l'eau, nager dans des lacs, rivières et divers points d'eau. Il fallait tout de même faire attention aux crocodiles; si les gens se baignaient c'était bon, s'il y avait des panneaux et personne: attention!

With this heat, the need for our stay in the Northern Territory was constantly the same: WATER, find water, drink water, swim in lakes, rivers and various water points. It was still necessary to pay attention to crocodiles; if people were bathing it was good, if there were signs and nobody: watch out!

MATARANKA
Là bas, il y a des bains thermaux gratuits! Ce sont des piscines naturelles avec une eau à 34°C dans la forêt tropicale, c'est magnifique, l'eau est limpide et turquoise <3 Nous avons nagé avec les papillons et les chauves-souris géantes :D

There, there are free thermal baths! These are natural pools with 34°C water in the rainforest, it's amazing, the water is so clear and turquoise <3 We swam with butterflies and giant bats :D

NITMILUK NAT. PARK: KATHERINE GORGE

A propos de chauve-souris géantes, regardez les milliers accrochées aux arbres quand on était à la gorge Katherine!! (parc du Nitmiluk)

Voici Katherine Gorge, ça se visite surtout en bateau donc bon pas fou à pieds... / Here is Katherine Gorge, you visit it with a boat, so it's not that crazy by foot

NITMILUK NAT. PARK: EDITH FALLS

Je crois que cet endroit fut notre préféré dans le nord, on y est même retournés après Darwin! Imaginez un camping pas cher (de mémoire $6.60/adulte) avec douches/BBQ/café-terrasse au bord d'un lac! il y a une petite rando à faire et là dans la montagne: un autre lac! et plein de cascades <3 Quand il fait chaud c'est royal!

I think this place was our favorite in the north, we even went back after Darwin! Imagine a cheap campsite (about $6.60/adult if I remember well) with showers/BBQ/cafe-terrace by the lake! There is a small hike to do and there in the mountains: another lake! and lots of waterfalls <3 When it's hot it's perfect!

LITCHFIELD NATIONAL PARK
Nous voulions aller au Kakadu National Park (enfin surtout moi pour les peintures rupestres) mais l'entrée coûtait $40/adulte!! Sachant qu'avec notre van pas tout terrain on aurait vu une infime partie du parc.
Alors que le Litchfield National Park (juste avant Darwin) était gratuit!Il y avait juste des nuits à payer si on voulait camper. Et là tu vas de rivière en cascade pour éviter la chaleur. Le parc est également connu pour ses termitières cathédrales: des termitières géantes où l'on est tout petit à côté:

We wanted to go to the Kakadu National Park (well, mostly me for rock paintings) but the entrance was $40/adult !! Knowing that with our van (not 4x4), we would have seen a tiny part of the park.
While the Litchfield National Park (just before Darwin) was free! There were just nights to pay if we wanted to camp. And there you go from one river to another fall to avoid the heat. The park is also known for its termite mounds called "cathedrals": giant termite mounds where you feel very small next to it:

ces plantes s'appellent des pandanus (le nom nous a fait rire tout du long ^^") / those plants are called pandanus (which make us laugh all along the way ^^")

Et enfin nous arrivions à Darwin le 7 octobre!! On a pas mal lézardé sur la route car on avait pris une location airbnb et la route se faisait plus vite que prévu, du coup en attendant autant en profiter dans les parcs :)

And finally we arrived in Darwin on October 7th !! We chilled a lot on the road because we had booked an airbnb flat and the drive was faster than expected, so we waited by enjoying the parks :)
